How does the grant scheme work?
The grant system for websites is based on 4 steps: static or brochure website; content managed website; e-commerce website, and; e-business. For each step there is a grant available of 50% up to a maximum of £500. So if you have no website at present, and you jump straight in with an e-commerce website, your maximum grant will be 50% or £1,500. If you already have a static or brochure website, and you wish to step up to an e-commerce website then your maximum grant will be 50% or £1,000.
Requirements
Your business must be Somerset based, having received no more than 100,000 Euros of funding within the past three years, and a member of your organisation must attend one of the Connecting Somerset IT/web related training courses.
Loads of forms?
The application process is simple, and we at Higher Sites will fill out most of the forms for you, then guide you through the application process. You simply need to speak to us about your requirements, after which we will provide you with a quotation that can be used with your grant application. Then you book a training course, submit your application and wait for approval (usually within just a few days).
Will I be accepted?
All of our customers to date have been accepted. Provided your application meets the requirements and there is sufficient funding left, you application will be approved.
When will I get the money?
You have to pay for the training course and website in full. You will then receive 50% of your training costs and your website grant amount by cheque from Somerset County Council - usually within one month.
How much money is available?
Around £500,000, almost 50% of which has already been allocated (as of October 2007). The grant scheme will end either when the money runs out, or when the availability period ends in March 2008. You will probably need to get an application in before December 2007 to ensure funding for your project. Money is allocated on a first come first served basis.
