All finished?
Now the servers are securely in place and locked in the cabinet, but unfortunately this is merely the beginning! Next we allocate the IP addresses to the machines and start to build on the base configuration we set up previously. This includes installing the services necessary for each machine, for example, the web server software and of course the remote management utilities we will need to access these machines from our offices.
The remainder of the configuration is completed remotely, so we don't need to spend large amounts of time in the data centre each time we make a change. In fact, we will only go back there to perform hardware upgrades or maintenance, or to install new equipment.
The technical team
David, Tim and Dominic are given the responsibility of caring for the servers, and all have considerable experience in configuring, managing and supporting Linux systems. The servers are set up in such a way that we will be notified of any developing fault so that we can fix it quickly or prepare one of the redundant machines for operation. The servers can even be managed and rebooted from a mobile phone (Nokia E61 running SSH).
Together we ensure that your website and email service are always available.
